Social Justice Poster
Overview
The objective of this project is to design a risograph-printed poster addressing a topic within the realm of social justice. Use visual storytelling to raise awareness, provoke thought, or advocate for change through a limited-color print format. The goal was to develop a clear message and concept while embracing riso’s aesthetic qualities intentionally.
Approach
Chose the theme of equity vs. equality within social justice.
Focused on how equal treatment doesn't always lead to fair outcomes.due to issues like economic status, resource availability, and accessibility.
Used visual metaphors (e.g. rulers at the sides, uneven amounts needed to reach true equality, photos to represent the different types of underlying issues)
Embraced the imperfections of risograph printing to reflect real-world flaws in systems of equity.
Designed with layering and contrast to show surface-level fairness vs. deeper inequalities.
